Why Put Off 'til Tomorrow What You Can Start Today?
Back in the early 80s, Jon O'Brien told Randy Brinton '64 that St. Andrew's was in need of the support of its alumni and asked Randy if he would help. Even though Randy had not been back to the School much at that point, he told the new headmaster that he would do what he could.
And for the past 30+ years, Randy has helped St. Andrew's a lot, serving as Class Agent, Annual Fund Chair, Alumni Board Member and President, Career Night speaker, Phonathon volunteer, Metro Stop host, Reunion Class organizer and Trustee.
Randy believes that alumni involvement keeps the School strong. He also believes in A. Felix duPont's founding mission that a St. Andrew's education be available and affordable to all. That is why Randy has endowed a scholarship at St. Andrew's and also made provisions for it in his estate. The Edward and Virginia Brinton Scholarship honors the legacy of his parents and helps ensure that current and future generations of St. Andrew's students can afford the same educational experience that Randy and so many other alumni had.
Randy encourages every alumnus to include a bequest to the School in his will, either for a residual percentage of his estate or a flat dollar figure. If every St. Andrean did this, it would create an alumni endowment capable of funding all financial aid each year at the School.
Now that's some legacy!
