Investment in St. Andrew's Pays Off For Donor
Bill Brownlee '44, P'73,'75, '77, '79, GP '05, '09, '14, '17 must be good with numbers. Just look at all of them following his name in every St. Andrew's listing!
As an alumnus, trustee, parent and grandparent, Bill is very invested in St. Andrew's School. He has invested even further by establishing a charitable gift annuity with the School. It's a relatively simple way to make a charitable gift while retaining a fixed stream of payments for life. The annuity rates are based on the age of the annuitant—the older the annuitant, the higher the rate. In exchange for Bill's irrevocable gift of marketable, appreciated securities, he receives a 7.2 percent return each year on his investment. Part of the payments are tax-free, part are treated as ordinary income, and some have a small capital gains tax.
"When you make St. Andrew's the beneficiary of a charitable gift annuity, it is more than a win-win situation; it's a win-win-win. St. Andrew's wins as the recipient of your generosity. You win the satisfaction of helping to maintain the Founder's vision of St. Andrew's as a school available to all regardless of financial means. And, you also win with a generous tax deduction and guaranteed payments at a very favorable rate."
